This is a good book for gorgeous photos of needlework including crochet, knitting, crewel and many others. It includes the history of each art form. I would have rated it higher if it had included more patterns. There are one or two patterns per art form only.

"A comprehensive history, from Colonial times to the present with 140 full-color illustrations and 50 black and white drawings, plus step-by-step instructions for every type of traditional American needlework with hundreds of graphs, diagrams, and charts." Fun to look at with some nice projects.

Written by Rose Wilder Lane (her mother was Laura Ingalls Wilder of the "Little House" books), and containing beautiful photographs of the best of American embroidery, patchwork, applique, etc. Wonderful historical commentary.
