For Christmas a friend gave me a copy of the first book in the Kentucky Summers Series (The Cave, The Cabin, and the Tattoo Man). It was so good that I read the approx 297 pages in one sitting. The series starts off when the main character is 9 and spends the summer with his grandparents in Kentucky. At first I was a bit unsure about the writing style, but soon realized it was written as if being actually recorded by the 9 year old. The story quickly charmed and delighted me. It brought back sweet memories of childhood in the country. It is a wonderful book for both adults and children (easy read for the kiddos also). I will definitely be getting the sequels and keeping them for when I have grandchildren!
