Ok, just got my email about the new fees and all that. I'd really like to stay a member of the site, but I'm wondering which membership would be best for me. I joined in 2012, and in that time, I've mailed 73 books, and received 79 books. My wishlist only has about 60 books on it, and a couple of those I ended up putting on hold when they came up, because I didn't have the credit, or I only had one credit, and wasn't in that big of a hurry for the book that came up, so saved my credit for something else I was wanting more urgently. I don't have an abundance of credits (only wish I had tons to spend, lol) and usually when I earn a credit, I use it right away for a book on my list. I have about 140 books posted, but I've been thinking about going through and clearing some out. So anyway, since I certainly don't need a 500 item wishlist, and I can count the times I've come to the forums on one hand, I'm wondering if the standard membership is what I should go for, or if I should stick with the limited, or just do ala carte, since my books don't get requested that often, so I'm not swapping that often. I don't own a printer, so I don't print the wrappers from here or use the printed postage, I go up to my post office and pay there. I also don't use any of the TBR, BIR, etc lists on here, so that's not a draw, and I don't have a friend list on here either, so the features about ordering from friends and posting to friends, etc, is also not a draw. Sooo, basically I'm just wondering which one would be the best way to go.

If you received 79 books since Oct 2012, then you will need a Standard $20 membership if you plan on buying at the same rate in the future.

79 books = more than 2.5 books per month........An A la Carte would cost you $1.25 per month.......Limited Membership costs $1.00 per month.

If you plan on buying 30 or less books per year, then you could buy the limited $12 plan.

I would suggest that you not get a membership and just pay as you go as you do not need the higher wishlist, printable postage or access to the forums.

Then if you see you are swapping a lot of books you can always get a limited membership at another point. (You have no need for the standard membership unless you start swapping more than 30 books a year.

Ok, so if I do go with a membership, do I still need to purchase PBS money, or is it once I have a membership, the ordering and stuff will work just like it does now?

Sounds to me like you would be fine with just being an ala cart member. That's what I'm doing. I have other forums I can use and only trade a handful of books each years. My WL moves very slow and I very rarely requested available books.  I know I'll spend less than $12 a year on fees.  I already have enough PBS money to cover 7 WL offers.

the only thing I'm changing going A La Carte is that I'm changing everything to 48-hour offer rather than auto-request on my Wishlist, so as not to have to keep PBS money in my account or be crossed over when a wishlist book comes up. And I will remember if I go on vacation hold to make sure there is money in my account, so I have that option to be on auto-request. Hope that makes sense.

To answer your question Christian.  If you buy a membership everything about requesting and sending books will stay the same.

Christian, I see you already have a Gold Key.  That will convert to a standard membership on the 15 th.  When your GK expires one year from when you bought it, you then have to make a decision on what me,bership to buy.
