I don't know if this has been addressed before.  We heat our home using only a wood burning stove, does that equal a smoking home?   Thanks for your thoughts on this.   C.

I wouldn't think so.  Do your books smell like smoke?

Books smell like smoke?

I'm not sure I could tell for sure....just like people who smoke find it hard to tell if their books smell like smoke.  I have seen requests that say something like..."I don't mind books from smoking homes as long as they don't smell like smoke."

I would say no.  There's big difference between cigarette smoke and wood burner/fireplace smoke.

I think the key issue is venting. Unless you're allowing the wood smoke to fill your home, you're probably OK. When someone is a smoker, the smoke can't exactly be vented out of the house, KWIM?

I wouldn't think it qualifies as a "smoking home".  People who are allergic to cigarette smoke, are allergic to tobacco, not the substance "smoke" in general.  If they don't specify what kind of smoke, you can always decline and put "wood burning stove" down as a reason.

I'm one of those with the RC about "currently smoking home" and I don't mean a woodburning stove/fireplace...there is a big difference, though I am allergic to both.

Carol G....I think it would be safe to assume that you do not allow the smoke from your woodburning stove to fill your house, I'm guessing that the damper is adjusted to allow the smoke to escape up the chimney and the heat to remain inside.  When someone smokes ciggies the smoke doesn't go up a chimney it stays in the house and invades everything.  BIG Difference....

Thanks Christy H.  I was hoping someone with that RC would answer the question.  On a side note:  I was surprised to learn that so many people are allergic to smoke (cigs or otherwise).  Thanks for helping, everyone!

i don't think so, unless they have a heavy smoke smell.
