Have you ever worked part-time (apart from your regular job) at a bookstore just so you could use that extra income on books?

Borders offers over 30% discount on all purchases for employees plus a monthly giftcard. I've applied for a part-time job just so I could spend the extra income on my book habit, rather than budgeting it out of our regular income. I certainly have the extra time since my husband and I don't have children and he's working his butt off in grad school (rarely home during the school year). Borders is just down the street from our house, too.

I have another friend who worked part-time at the movie theater to pay for the movies he wanted to see.

Anyone done something like this?

I haven't but I wanted to once..now my work shift doesn't allow for this due to never having the same day or time slot off.

a friend of mine worked at a  quilt shop for this reason but she ended up spending not only her entire paycheck but more as well so be careful! Her hubby wanted her to work for the cable company so they'd get free cable..they weren't hiring though. If I were able to schedule the hours I'd probably ask to work at the ubs near me..she asked me several years ago but I just couldn't be flexible with my full-time job.
