The Worm Ouroboros
Author: E.R. Eddison
Enter a world of witch-kings, swordmasters, and quests in this tale of two mighty kingdoms engaged in the primal conflict between good and evil. An epic of marvels and magic in the spirit of The Lord of the Rings, this classic tale of high adventure and sorcery is one of the great prototypes of modern fantasy fiction.

Eddison's groundbreaking fantasy epic - heroic griffon riders, malevolent sorcerors and their wine-bibbing generals, fair damsels, court intrigue, all topped off by arcane vocabulary and extensive menu listings. Good plot, but the pseudo-old English makes it a little difficult to read in large doses. Still a must for any truly serious fantasy fan.

1. Mistress of Mistresses

2. The Worm Ouroboros

3. A Fish Dinner in Memison

4. The Mezentian Gate

This is book #2 of the 4 part series. Eddison is compared to Tolkin and created a fantastic world.

Rich and absorbing as J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings."
