The Worm Ouroboros
The Worm Ouroboros
Author: E.R. Eddison
This is the book that shaped the landscape of contemporary science fiction. J. R. R. Tolkien acclaimed its author as "the greatest and most convincing writer of 'invented worlds' that I have read." Written in the best traditions of Homeric epics, Norse sagas, and Arthurian myths, it recounts compelling tales of warriors and witches.

Eddison's groundbreaking fantasy epic - heroic griffon riders, malevolent sorcerors and their wine-bibbing generals, fair damsels, court intrigue, all topped off by arcane vocabulary and extensive menu listings. Good plot, but the pseudo-old English makes it a little difficult to read in large doses. Still a must for any truly serious fantasy fan.

1. Mistress of Mistresses

2. The Worm Ouroboros

3. A Fish Dinner in Memison

4. The Mezentian Gate

This is book #2 of the 4 part series. Eddison is compared to Tolkin and created a fantastic world.

Rich and absorbing as J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings."
