Interview with the Vampire.  It was ok, but I was so bored that I quit halfway through.  I have only read a handful of vampire books though, so saying that one is the worst isn't saying much.  I have lots more in my TBR pile and on my wish list so I'll report back if my answer changes.  ;)

Interview with the Vampire in my opinion was ok enough, but I flew through The Vampire Lestat in no time at all, it is just so much better than the first one!

I agree with Interview with a Vampire (didn't finish it) and I also didn't like Bite by Richard Laymon.

I didn't like Laymon's Bite either.  It started out ok, but about 1/2 way though the plot seemed to change and I didn't like the direction it took.

I loved Interview With the Vampire, but agree that The Vampire Lestat was much better.  Worst book(s) I've read are Twilght and New Moon.  Bella and Edward make me absolutely crazy with their incessant whining.  These books came so highly recommended and for the life of me I can't understand the appeal.

Most recently - Dead End Dating by Kimberly Raye - Not something I would normally pick up, but I got it free from a site. I figured, hey, vampires, I'll love it. I realized though that in the attempt to make it funny, it took out a lot of the magic that attracted me to vampires in the first place. Now I stick to my angsty vamps or at the very least, mindless hungry ones.

My vote for worst vampire novel goes to anything by Christine Feehan.  Apologies to all her fans out there, but her Carpathian series is enough to make one wish for a stake thru the author's heart.

From what I've read so far, Sunshine by Robin McKinley. The narrative which consisted of the main character's constant ramblings took all the joy of what could have been an interesting plot. I was bored out of my wits reading this one. FTR, I like Interview With A Vampire but agree Lestat is a much better book.

Twilight, and the first chapter of New Moon (because I could not read it all)..

Plus a few of those paranormal romance books, they were so bad I cannot remember the titles..Might have been Feehan *shudders*

Any of those vampire romance novels, ugh... I think I picked up one by Maggie Shayne out of sheer boredom at the airport, and after yet another character licked her lips within the first 10 pages, I couldn't take it anymore.  That had to be the worst.

The worst's deifinitely Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake series. Oh, and the Buffy and Angel series. Not that I've read any of these two but I thought the TV series was already enough. Lately there was a book called "The Vampire of New York" which failed all my expectations. I wrote a review about this one. http://sleepysbook-talk.blogspot.com/2008/02/lee-hunt-vampire-of-new-york.html

I have yet to subject myself to the Anita Blake series. I read her other series (Meridith Gentry ) and it was ok but did not read more then two books in the series. Maybe if I was trapped inside a room and it was the only authors books their I might read them.

I do think she writes ok just do not like the plot, nothing surprising happens.

The Anita Blake Vampires series is one of my favorite vampire series of all time. A really bad vampire author I think is Kate Macalister, her book A Girl's Guide to Vampires is just awful.

The Historian..

It was a good book if you are looking for a kind of historical fiction book...but as a vamp story it sucked.

I agree that Anita Blake is not the best out there... but read-able if you are in the mood for that sort of thing.

Check out this cool vampire game I am playing through myspace (its free and no dowloads or anything)
