Nothing new, complex, or surprising in this book - but the author does do a great job of walking you through the basics for getting ready to write. He has 8 (or was it 9?) successes that you complete right at the beginning of a novel so you can look back on something positive when you're bogged down in the middle and not liking it. He also offers concise, conventional advice about character development and plotting as well as editing the first draft. Overall a very solid little book that manages to get a lot done in a few pages.
