I wrote my first book and have had one person read and edit it. I don't really know what to do with it now! If I decide I want to try to get it published, how do I even try to go about that!? What now?

Best thing to do is to find an agent, first rule, you should never have to pay an agent anything UNLESS it is stated in the contract (usually international postage fees or making copies of the manuscript). Never pay anything upfront, nor should you pay that agent to proof read the work.

Writers market, either use the book or the website is a great place to start looking for an agent.  Work out what genre your writing is aimed at, is it adult fiction, horror, Young Adult, childrens picture book etc. Then look through the listings in the writers market and find an agent that accepts these manuscripts. Most will state what they expect an author to do, IE send in the first three chapters or send in the whole thing or send a query letter. (Writers market explains what all those things are incase you are unsure).

RESEARCH the agent, most have web sites, and you can google their names. check this site to see if they are listed as a bad agent http://www.sfwa.org/Beware/

Going that way is going through the steps to be traditionally published, if you are interested in just self publishing then try Lulu.com  or Xlibris.com. READ everything before committing yourself, this will give you up front costs to pay before you sell any of the novels.

Lulu.com will also print books without ISBN so they ARENT published books, and are great too see what yours could look like if published.
