I just received a book that was listed as a paperback and when the book came, it is actually a hardback. The isbn's do match so it is a book that uses the same isbn for both. Now, I really do not care which binding I get on this book. Do you think I should mention it to the sender so that they are aware of it? I would hate for someone in the future to get surprised with a book that has the wrong binding or even myself in the future when I am looking for a specific binding. Or should I let it go since it really doesn't matter to me at all? If you did say something, what would you say?

I would just maybe send the sender a note saying while you did not mind that the binding did not match the ISBN that in the future the person should make sure they match when they post a book because it does matter to some folks. In that instance the member needs to post the book as if it did not have an ISBN. Diane |

Books is books for my purposes. Just PM the sender, and thank them for the upgrade. |

There are many ISbn that don't match binding. What makes me made is when I order a Hardback and get a paperback with a different ISBN. I collect books and request specific bindings. I think it's important the ISBN is right and if the binding don't match the ISBN i would want to be contacted and ask if I still wanted it. I have had this happen and the person did ask me before sending. You can also make review and state the book is listed wrong in the database. |

I would PM them and point out the section of the help center dealing with ISBNs for more than one binding: Problem: You enter the ISBN on your paperback and the book Listing Preview says "Hardcover".Explanation: This means one of two things: 1. Your book is an ARC
2. The publisher chose to assign the same ISBN to more than one version of this title.

>> "You can also make review and state the book is listed wrong in the database." Alexis, please, please, please, DO NOT put that your copy is a different binding in the reviews. This is absolutely NOT the place to do that and is totally wrong. There are a lot of people working to get those kinds of reviews removed, because the review is attached to ALL copies of that book, not just yours. And the next persons probably IS the right binding, and how will the requestor know who's book they are getting? If your book does not match the binding you are to list is as tho it does not have an ISBN. Publishers reuse ISBNs all the time, sometimes for different bindings of the same title, sometimes for totally different books. And only one of the books gets a place with that ISBN in the database. The other editions/titles must be listed manually without an ISBN. Here are two Help Center rulings on this discussion: 1. If the information on a book listing in the database is incorrect...
