I recieved a hard cover book today with dustjacket.....problem is the dustjacket while the correct title as for a smaller version of the book.

Dustcover is more than an 1 1/2 inches smaller than the book!!! Definitely not the correct cover.   Is this an acceptable postable item??

I would say yes because unless you have an RC regarding dustjackets one does not even have to be included.

Sounds like somebody put a book club edition's dust jacket on a store bought version of the book.  Since, as Christy said, dust jackets aren't required, I wouldn't worry about it, and would honestly just toss the jacket in the garbage. Seems like an odd mistake, especially since it would require both editions in the first place.  Maybe there's a book club edition out there in an oversized jacket now, maintaining the cosmic balance.

The person could just be like me and hate naked books so she found a dust jacket for it and put it on there even though its too small. Personally I'd rather have the wrong size jacket on it that none at all.  If you plan on swapping the book when you are done, I'd just tuck it away and send it off with the book later. If you are keeping it and don't like it being to small toss it.

It might or might not be...I have a book I bought brand new fairly recently (The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon) where the dustjacket is actually designed to be about 3" smaller than the book itself. It's part of the design.

But, as others have said, unless you have an RC requiring dust jackets, it is not an RWAP or problem, as the dust jacket is not a requirement per PBS posting guidelines.

LOL, Jimi!  Like the guy who wears a green sock and a blue sock to work.  When someone comments on them, he says, "Yeah!  I know!  The strange thing is I have another pair just like this one at home!"

And I agree -- since dust jackets aren't required, if you don't have a dust jacket requestor condition, the book is fine. And definitely repostable.
