I did a search for christmas books under the genre cooking food  &  wine , baking, and ordered a bunch of them. One of the books was  The christmas

cookies. I got it today and it's a  14 page childrens book,  not what I was looking for .what can I do to help this from happening again? It said hard cover

but didn't say how many pages or that it was a kids book.

If a listing doesn't have all its information when I think I want to order a book, I do like Cindy and find other listings on other sites to find out what I'm really ordering. I don't like getting a surprise, so I go make sure I'm getting something I really want to order. I don't quite understand why you would order a book if you didn't know anything about it? You didn't know how many pages or what kind of cookbook it was even.

I do hope you will edit the listing to make sure no one else gets the same surprise when ordering it from you or from someone else. And, don't think that just because it's a children's cookbook, that no one will order it. I've had just as many of those move as any others. Matter of fact, I don't think I have any of them left anymore, and I know I've had atleast 4-5 of them.

If you do not want to figure out how to make the edits to the book, feel free to send the information to myself, and I will gladly make the changes for you.

I would like any of the following information that is not already listed for the book: the publication date, publisher, measurements, number of pages, at least a small description or longer if you feel like it (the better, the quicker the book gets ordered :), something about the types of recipes that are included. Oh, and of course, I need the title and ISBN :)

Thanks!

I did send in the info for the book to be edited. I ordered it without knowing more about it because I collect christmas cookie cookbooks, and that is what I thought it was. This is not a cookbook at all it is a story about animals helping to make cookies.

I see where you are coming from, Terry...my SO is into women's baseball and softball; often when I find a book on here in that category it is unclear if it is a 20 page children's book or an adult, serious read.

As the others have said, I turn to Amazon and Google for more help. In fact, I do that with almost all PBS books in which I am interested. Copying the ISBN and entering that in Amazon and Google often gives me year of publication, whether or not a newer edition has been published, other available versions, and customer reviews. I collect cookbooks and year of publication often comes in handy (both good and bad--old cookbooks are great but not when it comes to, say, canning and preserving); likewise, if I'm unfamiliar with a certain type of cooking and want to learn more about it, Amazon's reviews often will reveal whether or not a certain cookbook is a good introduction for newbies.

I recommend that extra step more often than not, unless you are either certain the book is the one you want or just don't care that much in the end. Good luck! -- Benny
