to cancel a book?  I have a book on my WL but it isn't the first in the series, I was hoping to get started.  But it doesn't look promising to get the 1st ones any time soon.  The book posted to me I accepted it.  The poster waited till the last second to accept it.  And now its down to the last day to mark it mailed.  So I've been staring at this book for about 2 weeks thinking maybe I ought to wait till the first ones come in.

Meanwhile during this wait I have been offered and received 2 other WL books while this one still sits there.

What is your opinion?

Update

Well I didn't cancel but apparently they did not mark it in time because it dissappeared.  I guess I was just preparing myself for the loss yesterday.  Cause now I'm kind of sad its not coming.

It's entirely up to you.  The Sender has had weeks to accept and mail it, and they haven't been in a hurry to do so, so if the option to cancel is still available, and you can cancel the book and you want to cancel, go ahead.

It would be wrong to try to cancel by PM'g the sender AFTER they've printed out the wrapper and you cannot cancel the transaction yourself.  But before then, sure, why not?  Nothing wrong with canceling it at this stage...

If you cancel you will have to put yourself back on the end of the Wish List for it again, if you still want to read it.

If it is a long or slow moving WL, I would probably just let them mail it out to you and keep waiting for the first one.

Sometimes I get them out of order when I have a series on my WL, but usually within a couple of months, I get whichever one is missing.

I don't mind getting books out of sequence in a series.  I just put them aside until I get the books I need.  I have plenty of other stuff to read in the meantime.

I'm not really sure what you're asking. If you still want the book, don't cancel. If you no longer want it, go ahead and cancel.

If it is a series you want to read, don't cancel -- as another member said, just set it aside until you get the first book in the series. People do that all the time, so don't feel bad about taking a book out of circulation for a bit! Odds are someone will still be looking for it when you get the first book in the series and are able to finally get going.

Remember PBS now offers individual book 'hold' options.  If sequels are moving faster than book one, you can place them on hold until you're ready to accept an offer.

I also use the WL hold for anything I want to get in line for but know I won't need for awhile.  If the line is super short and it's not a rarely posted book-then I put it on my RL.
