My turn this month!!

I didn't see this one started yet.  This thread is for you to list your unpostable books that you are offering as part of a deal.  (If you are not requiring an order off your shelf, but just want to give away your damaged books, you can post in the Damaged Books sticky thread at the top of the Book Bazaar)

Please be sure to say what makes the book unpostable.  Also, please be sure to update your posts so we know what has been taken.

Thanks!

I have the following unpostable books. Feel free to choose one free with each book ordered from my shelf. Just PM to let me know which one you want.

The following books are damaged as described:

  • Black House by Stephen King & Peter Straub ISBN: 0-345-44103-6 (paperback) Only slightly worn, this book would be postable if not for a large tear on the back cover where a sticker or tape was removed.
  • So Far From the Bamboo Grove – Yoko Kawashima Watkins ISBN: 0-688-13115-8 (paperback) Large creases on both front and back cover, but clean pages and tight binding. Ex school book with “Used Book” stamped on it.
  • River God – Wilbur Smith ISBN: 0-312-95446-8 (paperback)  On this one, the cover is torn along the front and is beginning to come lose from the binding. All the pages are still intact. There is an inscription on the first page.
  • The Catcher in the Rye – J.D. Salinger (paperback) This is an older copy; the cover is about halfway torn off. The pages are yellowed and stained from storage. I can’t find an ISBN number.
  • Irish Dreams – Nora Roberts ISBN: 0-373-28541-8 (paperback) This one has some wavy pages, but is still readable.
  • Cause of Death – Patricia Cornwell ISBN: 978-0-425-21338-4(paperback) The glue is failing on this book. The front cover is loose, and so is a 50 page chunk of the book.
  • The Talisman – Stephen King & Peter Straub ISBN: 0-425-10533-4 (paperback) This one’s cover is loose, there is a small stain on the pages and there is some yellowing.
  • The Looking Glass Wars - Frank Beddor ISBN: 978-0-14-240941-1 (paperback) This book has about eight pages of color illustrations in the very middle and some of these pages have seperated from the binding. They do not contain any part of the story, so it does not affect read-ability, and the loose pages will be included.

The following books came from a long-term storage shed. They are all readable, but are yellowed, stained, and musty.

  • Cabal – Clive Barker ISBN: 0-671-68514-7 (paperback)
  • Jurassic Park – Michael Crichton UPC: 0-7099900699 (paperback) There are stickers on the back cover of this one.
  • And Eternity – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-380-75286-7 (paperback)
  • Black Genesis – L. Ron Hubbard ISBN: 0-88404-283-9 (paperback)
  • For Love of Evil – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-380-75285-9 (paperback)
  • The End of Eternity – Isaac Asimov ISBN: 0-553-28809-1 (paperback)
  • The Source of Magic – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-345-35058-8 (paperback)
  • A Spell of Chameleon – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-345-34753-6 (paperback)
  • Violin – Anne Rice ISBN: 0-345-2530-8 (paperback)
  • Everville – Clive Barker ISBN: 0-06-109308-4 (paperback) This one also has a torn cover.
  • Being A Green Mother – Piers Anthony ISBN: 0-345-32223-1 (paperback) This one also has damage to the front and back covers. It looks like something nibbled on the edges.
  • The Magic of Recluce – L.E. Modesitt, Jr. ISBN: 0-812-50518-2 (paperback)
  • The Vampire Armand – Anne Rice ISBN: 0-345-4380-3 (paperback)

Free unpostable book when you order something from my shelf.

The Wizard of Seattle by Kay Hooper ISBN#0553587706

This is a brand new book but only about half the bookspine was gluded to the cover.  None of the pages are loose so this would be an easy fix with glue.  I bought the book this way and didnt evan notice.

Thanks for looking.  Let me know if you want it.

Order one book from my shelf and take an unpostable for free:

  • A Fit of Tempera: A Bed and Breakfast Mystery by Mary Daheim.  Paperback.  Pages are intact but pages have separated partly from the cover.
  •
  • A Singular Hostage: A magnificent novel of the Victorian India by Thalassa Ali.  It has some sort of a liquid stain on the outer edge of the page.  Not a big stain, about 2 inches.  Only a small portion goes to the bottom of the pages.
  •
  • Dances with Wolves by Michael Blake; Ballantine Books : 1988 (spine wear, pages have separated in one place)
  • Mutiny on the Bounty by Charles Nordhoff and James Normal Hall; Little Brown : 1969 (has a crease in the cover, some wear, small tear in spine. Binding is in good shape)
  • Five Minute Mysteries by Ken Weber (has musty smell; book is in excellent condition otherwise)
  • Sherlock Holmes and the Red Demon by John H. Watson (has black shelf wear spot on the bottom near the spine. Like new condition otherwise)
  • The Wedding by Dorothy West.  Paperback in great condition.  Previous owner underlined passages.

One free with any order:

Invasion of the Boy Snatchers (A Clique Novel, bk 4) by Lisi Harrison - had a bunch of writing in pencil on the initial inside page, I erased it but it is still noticeable, otherwise book is in excellent condition

Revenge of the Wannabes (A Clique Novel, bk 3) by Lisi Harrison - has a name and phone number written in ink on the initial inside page, plus a thanks stamp mark, otherwise book is in excellent condition

American Red Cross First Aid Textbook - revised 1945 edition - some cover corners are missing and parts of the cover are cracking - pages intact (could not find an isbn)

Undercover of Darkness Edited by Julie E. Czerneda and Jana Paniccia - a spot of something opposite the spine - there is slight stickage but the pages come apart easily and it is completely readable.

The Farthest Shore by Ursula LeGuin - older book with age spots on inside covers and looks like it was stabbed by a fork a few times toward bottom.  Still readable (no isbn)

The Supernaturalist by Eion Colfer - hard back with no dust jacket and dust jacket has what looks like grease spots on outside cover (this is how I received it when I ordered it for a credit so not sure what it is) completely readable.

If you have any questions, please ask.  Thanks!

1 unpostable with any order from my shelf:

  • Sorcery and the Single Girl by Mindy Klasky - TAKEN
  • Latte Trouble by Cleo Coyle
  • In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez
  • The Cereal Murders & The Last Suppers by Diane Mott Davidson

The first two are in pretty good shape, but have minimal water damage and/or just enough shelf wear for me to consider them unpostable. (Sorry! I'm too lazy to go get them and check them out atm.) The third has underlining. The last two are not in good shape at all, which is why I've listed them together. They're readable and not harboring any living substances though. I have books 2 & 5 in the series also that I would consider getting rid of.

Intervention: How to help someone who doesn't want help - Vernon Johnson - this book was clearly last used by someone who themselves was in deep need of intervention - there is single, double, and triple underlining, exclamation points, circles, etc.  Has great potential for pranks - leave it out somewhere suggestive and see who starts getting very worried about you.
