X-Men Rarities collects 4 limited-release tales of various member of the X-Men, plus a very early short (5 page) story of mutant-kind from Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

The stories featuring the reconstituted X-Men right after they were re-formed to battle Krakoa, Storm & Mystique, and Jubilee's thoughts on her teammates were interesting, BUT all tales were more cerebral and interpersonal than action-oriented in nature. Each were interesting and well-drawn, BUT may not have been the best choices to gather together under one cover the collection needed a little action as a diversion.

The first tale in the book of a solo Iceman on campus at New Hampshire's Dartmouth College DID have a little action and was more of a traditional comic story. To its detriment there was nothing special about the tale that justified its being reprinted.

RATING: 3 stars.
