The story of the French coming to Ireland to aid Irish men and women in their rebellion against their English oppressors.

The year of the French was 1798, when three tall ships full of French troops sailedinto a tiny County Mayo harbor to help a band of desperate, romantic Irish men and women rise up against their English oppressors. Now for every man and woman moved by passion, and thrilled by valor, there is a great novel of that grand, sad time.

The New York Times said: Exuberant. I haven't so thoroughly enjoyed a historical novel since War and Peace.
