It is an unusual story about a child prodigy, a Thinker, who crosses paths with a heartless young squire. How they change and enrich each other's lives is a fast-paced, often humorous (not silly) passionate tale. Treasure Barrett is a thoroughly delightful heroine and Sterling Renville is a masterful interesting young man, even when he is at his worst. Since this is the first novel of Betina Krahn's I have read I have nothing of hers to compare it with, but I did order all of her books based on this one. This author can write. There are some Romance writers who tell good stories and others who can write. This one does it all.
The story is about a young woman, Treasure, who grew up as a "thinker", one who helped everyone in the village with their problems. The problem is she was never expected to have any feelings...never expected to cry etc. then she met the late squire's only child, Sterling. He returned from England to claim his inheritance she finds herself with many new feelings she doesn't know what to do with. Treasure ends up helping Sterling find his true self, but the journey is wonderful and awful to watch. There is of course sex. A lot I think she could have left out or shortened but it did give you the meaning of what was going on. I thought all and all is was a good read.
