The small pictures are appealing to children who are more visually oriented. Lots of pictures. Lots of ideas to explore for the child who is curious about the way the natural world works.

Usborne does such a great job of filling a book with lots of pictures that catch a childs eye and then incorporating little tidbits of information. This book starts with a section on choosing and using equipment and then moving into the basic skills of being a naturalist. It also provides lots of background information and helpful hints/tips. Also lots of simple projects for hands on learning. Great book!
