I have also been wondering if this workout was worth all the hype. I went over and added to my SAD WL.

I don't have the DVDs but go to a class twice a week. I really enjoy it! Several friends go with me and we have a great time. It's a good workout, too. I've been thinking about getting some DVDs so that I can do it at home!

Maybe I will try it. My gym offers it once a week.

The great thing about Zumba is it gets you in the zone. You get to dancing and the music motivates you.  And don't worry - you don't even have to be good. The dances and movements can come and go pretty quick - the point is ...keep moving, keep dancing to what ever steps you can pick up on.  Before you know it after a few times you'll start to catch on...before too much longer you'll have one of the dances down!  Just in time to start on a new one!  All the Best.

I bought the DVD set off qvc or hsn in Feb and finally busted it out and I super suck but it did get my heart rate going and I didn't have to be any good at it at all.

I found 1) I really needed a super good sturdy sports bra and 2) I've let my belly camoflage my hips and waist so until those make an appearance again (I imagine much like that damn groundhog:lol:) that I will always feel pretty stupid and ungainly doing the steps but I was moving and laughing so good enough for me.

I LIVE for Zumba.  I do it 3x a week.   I go to lifetime fitness where we have a great instructor.  She's from Agentina and teaches is like a dance class rather than aerobics.  It's so popular you have to come 1/2 hour early just to get it.   I'm spoiled for other exercise now.   It's the only fitness class that I'm actually sorry when it's over and want it to be longer!  Ditch the workout, join the party.  what a concept.  The guy who started it is a genius!

How healthy do you have to be to do it?  My 15 yo daughter (thin and pretty fit) tried it using a tape and thought she would die!  Is it worse than old fashioned aerobics?  I regularly walk and do mild water aerobics and water stretching daily as often as possible (hate those all day rains !) though I am about 40 pounds overweight due to back disability and side effects of meds. I am losing inches with the mentioned exercise routine.  Can I safely try this?

Wow I love that ZUMBA is here at PBS.  I've been an instructor for 4 years and now there is so much more than just zumba......there is zumbatomic (for kids), aqua zumba (yes! in the water), zumba gold (for those young at heart or not yet ready for a full blown class) and zumba toning w/ weights.  I teach everyday (sometiems twice) and still  I'm still addicted to it even four years later...... I love complimenting it with yoga for a great stretch and less soreness the next day.  If you have never tried it - DO!

I just started Zumba and I love it!  I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get this old body to do some of those moves, but it's a great workout.  I'm going 3 times a week and I really think this is something I'll stick with, long term.

went to a free zumba class yesterday, loved it... you don't have to be good, or coordinated [per instructor], just do what you can, you don't have to be perfect, no one's looking at you cuz everyone is trying to keep up and just have fun... I have excess pounds and am no longer a youngun'... do it for you and only you.

I went to my first Zumba class this week and really enjoyed it.  I loved the music but I am not that coordinated - yet.  I plan to keep going.
