I've read so many nice reviews of this book I bought it even though it didn't appeal to me much. Now I'm on page 40 and bored. Should I call it quits or does it get better? Did you like it?

I loved it!  You might want to give it another 10-20 pages, but if it still doesn't appeal to you, then I'm not sure that reading further will make a difference. You might try listening to it instead -- it's read by the author and I thought was one of the better audio books I've heard. But, honestly, it sounds like this just might not be your kind of book. Fortunately for authors, we all have different tastes!

Do you read many of this genre?

very much! most of what I read is non-fiction and many are memoirs/biographies. this one just seems so boring. I decided to not read the rest, but would still love to hear any other opinions.

Is this the Havn Kimmel book?  I recall being bored by it too.  I had the same kind of childhood, and for some reason just couldn't relate to her.  My rule is 50 pages.  If I am not enthralled (or at least not in actual agony at the prospect of continuing), then NEXT!!

I liked it, but didn't love it.  Once you read 50 pages, you got the general idea of the book.  Swap!

I didn't find it as funny as most people claim it is in their reviews. I think i might have laughed out loud only once while reading it.

I had not really got into the genre when I found this one..Really loved it and it turned me onto so many more memoirs. I am sad you all did not like it. I actually got a copy of her follow up one and will be reading it soon I hope.
