Zorba the Greek
Author: Nikos Kazantzakis
Alexis Zorba is the hero of this novel, a Greek workman who accompanies the narrator to Crete. Zorba is a figure created on a huge scale: a character in the great tradition of Sinbad the Sailor, Falstaff, and Sancho Panza--and the book is a modern classic bursting with wit, fantasy, and the joy of life.

A great mix of fiction and existentialism written in turn-of-the-century prose that sometimes becomes poetry.

I'm sure there's a good story in here, as it is well reviewed elsewhere. I gave it 50 pages and wasn't interested in continuing.
