In addition to attempting to solve the bizzare murder of a local parish priest, despite roadblocks from within her own department, Nikki has become the target of an unknown death squad. The priest has been tortured and his death is somehow reminicent of another death years past. Nikki becomes increasingly more concerned about one of her close associates...has he become "dirty" or is he onto more than Nikki is aware? After she is stripped of her badge, she and Jameson Rook take it upon themselves to find the answers.

A fun read if you are a fan of the TV show Castle. It's an interesting concept to have a fictional TV character who is an author "write" a book like what he writes on the show. The actor is not in fact the author, but a lot of fun is had with the idea (mentions of his other TV roles, use of the word "Castle"). A good mystery with lots of murder, twists and turns (some of which are pretty easy to see coming) and a cliff hanger ending. It was sometimes repetitive.
