Neil Gaiman has fast become my favorite author. A fine mix of fantasy and mystery. This is a collection of short stories that will introduce you to his writing.

This is a collection of short stories and poems, and my feelings are mixed. Some pieces are brilliant, some good, some eh, and some I just don't get. Gaiman is a talented writer, but I can only relate to about half the stuff he writes. Two in particular I enjoyed in this anthology are his 100-word Christmas card story Nicholas Was... and his brilliant twisted version of the Snow White fairy tale, Snow, Glass, Apples.

An overall good book to read. Some of the short stories in S&M fell a little flat in the endings department. I was waiting for the one two knockout punch at the end of some of the stories but it was never delivered. I was left with a "Um OK" sort of feeling. Don't get me wrong there are some great short stories in S&M and it is a must read if you are a Neil Gaiman fan.
