Book Description:
Draven de Montague, Earl of Ravenswood, would never have entered the home of his most hated adversary had not the King himself ordered Draven to take in his foe's daughter for a year, to forge bonds of peace between their two feuding houses. Yet here is a lass whose spirit and loveliness could tempt Draven to betray his sworn vow never to let another close to his heart. Emily knows the searing heat of her passion could burn down stubborn Draven's defenses -- but will his surrender ignite a blaze so hot it consumes them both?

This book is a lesson in "Dont judge a cover by it's book," or something like that. Being a Kinley McGregor fan, I decided to order this book since it is her first KM novel. I was worried about the cover and such, but the book inside did not disappoint. The storyline is very good and has good character development. Yes, there is sex -- but it doesnt consume the story.

It has action, mystery, and a bit of a twist at the end. And yes, the hero even ends up doing something to prove his love that sort of makes you go, "awwwwww" at the end. So it has a bit of everything in it.

The only irony here is that this book has NOTHING at all to do with the MacAllister series, although it is advertised as #1 in the series. Odd. Probably a bit of that Kinley McGregor humor.

I am not a fan of Medival romances, but I really enjoyed this book!
Good story line, good character development; a pleasant surprize!

Lady Emily has always dreamed of a loce and a marriage that would transport her to heights of rapture she has never known. But though the dark, dashing, and mysterious stranger who arrives at her father's estate has indeed come for Emily, romance has nothing to do with it...

Yet here is a lass whose spirit and loveliness could tempt Draven to betray his sworn vow never to let another close to his heart. This is one of my favorite books. It has everything you could want: forbidden love, action, seduction, great characters, and a touch of comedy added in for good measure. Most books I read, I cannot actually picture what is going on, but this is one of those that I can see the characters doing and saying what is written in the book. If you want a book that is fast to read, and quite entertaining, you must read this. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes medieval romance novels.

In true Kinley MacGregor fashion, she has woven a tale about very real people in cool medieval circumstances. There are actually medieval takes on how many of AAA does it take to screw in a light bulb. Heartwarming and well worth the time spent to read it!

Draven de Montague would never have entered the home of his most hated adversary had not the King himself ordered Draven to take his foe's daughter for a year, to forge bonds of peace between the two feuding houses. A man determined to lock his emotions away and a passionate woman determined to burn down the man's defenses and find herself the husband she has dreamed of. Kinley MacGregor always delivers interesting characters.

An utterly delightful story. Both characters made me laugh to my delight!
