Book Description:
Joe Hill, son of Stephen King, shows he's inherited some of his father's ghoulish golden touch in his debut novel, HEART-SHAPED BOX. Judas Coyne, a middle-aged Goth rocker, lives in seclusion, tinkering with cars and adding to his collection of the macabre. When he buys a haunted suit over the Internet, he gets more than he bargained for: not only does the suit really have a ghost, but the ghost has a bone to pick with Jude. The ghost's step-daughter, "Florida," was one of Jude's many groupie girlfriends (Jude names all his girlfriends after the state he picked them up in), and the ghost thinks Jude is responsible for the girl's suicide. HEART-SHAPED BOX is filled with grisly set-pieces and plenty of chills, but, like his dad, Hill knows how to get inside his characters' slightly deranged minds, which is where true horror lies.

Could not stop reading this book, finished it in one day. Great ghost story and mystery, didn't like the main character Jude at first, but after a while you realize that he is not the person he thinks he is! Highly recommend!

I could definitely feel Stephen King's presence while reading this super horror novel written by his son, Joe Hill. It reminded me a lot of some of King's better early novels like Christine, The Shining, Cujo, and 'Salem's Lot. When I first heard of this book, I wanted to read it and based on the hype was hoping for a great horror story. I wasn't disappointed! At first I thought "how is the story going to keep interesting once the ghost arrives via the on-line auction?" But the story kept my interest and rates high on the creepy scale.

This book was well written, but the idea that you can be saved from a spirit by channelling another spirit is so ludicrous that it was a real disappointment in the end.

One of the most bizarre books I've read in a long time...but well written.

Joe Hill is a writing force. Able to tell a gripper story without being as wordy as his famous father (Stephen King), This guy rocks! Scary, unexpected turns, nastyness, and can't put the book down until your starving and have to pee so bad you'll pop fiction.

I really had a hard time finishing this book, it was very drawn out. The story was good, I just wanted it to move faster!

This book was gripping from start to finish. Being a fan of Stephen King and John Maberry, I found Joe Hill to be a real contender in the horror genre. The story was crisp, the good guys were easy to root for and the bad guys were really, really bad. The gore was at an acceptable level, without being over the top. Totally engrossing. Highly recommend it!

Great ghost story. The characters are well-developed and likeable and the story flows smoothly. I don't want to compare him to King, so I won't. The writing and the book is good on Hill's own merit. I'd recommend the book to horror fans.

Can you imagine being a horror-writer and you're just breaking into the business and your dad is Stephen King??? It'd be either a blessing or a curse, no in-between.

This was a great book! I was amazed that it was written by Stephen King's son. The story was written well and reminded me of early Stephen King books!
