Book Description:
A dazzling novel in the most untraditional fashion, this is the remarkable story of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger's cinematic storytelling that makes the novel's unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant.

An enchanting debut and a spellbinding tale of fate and belief in the bonds of love, The Time Traveler's Wife is destined to captivate readers for years to come.

This is now on my list of my all time favorite books. Along with "The English Patient" and "Girl with a Pearl Earring", the quality of language and lyrical writing are a joy to read - you don't want it to end. The unique premise is thought provoking and the characters you come to know and care about - with an ending that is tender, beautiful and tragic. I never cry over books, but the ending of this one really got to me. Sorry, I'm taking my copy out of circulation as it's staying in my permanent collection and I'm recommending it highly to all of my friends.

I can wait for Niffenegger's next book. If she continues to write this well, I'll be a fan for life.

Definitely one of the best books I've ever read. True, the concept of the time-traveling takes a while to understand, and I don't think you fully do understand it, but I believe that's the whole point.

It truly is a wonderful and unique story. Such a tearjerker as well. Amazing amazing book.

If you start to read this and don't understand it, don't give it up right away. Give it a little while and you'll start to understand it and enjoy it.

This is a book I can read over and over again. I've waited for the movie to come out, but it seems that it never made the screen. The story is fascinating, funny and heart wrenching. It grabs the readers interest, and seems to glue itself to the reader's soul. This is truly one of those "I can't put it down" books. If you are lucky enough to nab a copy of this classic, do it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The premise and style is fresh, which added to the experience of reading it. I think the author's experience as an artist added to the richness of the story. The sections dealing with making the paper and artwork fascinated me.
Two thumbs up!

This book is gorgeous! The story is a magnificent and unique story of, the time traveler's wife. It is a spiraling tale of two lives lived independently and shared. Their time, their past, their futures overlap. And yet, the husband lives in a world all his own with no control over when or where he is at any given moment. It is a fresh perspective on life, love, and cause and effect. This is book is a rare treasure, and a first novel at that! Kudos, Audrey! I cannot wait for your next book.

Very clever. I heard it described as a book that was originally written in chronological order, thrown up in the air, and reordered.

I really enjoyed this.

4.5 stars out of 5

One of my favorite books...I just loved it. When I finished it, I couldn't start a new book right away because I needed to "steep" a bit with the story coming to an end. It was such a refreshing and enjoyable read.

This is one of my favorite books. I tried to read it once and couldn't get into the first chapter. I picked it up again and I am so glad that I did. Very interesting and bittersweet. Unlike any other book I have read.

This story is about a woman who lives a natural life span and her husband who has 'chronic displacement disorder' and travel through time. He is not able to control the time travel and mostly travels to the past. He first meets his (future) wife when she is 6 yrs old and travels back to meet her through out her life - they finally meet in the present timeline when she is 20-something, but he doesn't know her (because his time travelling to her past has not yet happened for him). Great romance story with a twist. Definitely recommend this book.

Good piece of fiction. I must admit I was surprised at the end when I turned it over to read more about the author and discovered it was a woman.

This book was such a grabber that I could not put it down. It was kind of strange, but powerful and beautiful. It was long, but worth it.

So, so good. It took a little bit to fully "get into" the story, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. It was one I kept reading well into the night (much to my husband's dismay). Well worth it!!

I could not put this book down. It has been a long time since I have found a book that I wanted to read into the early hours of the morning. I did not know what was going to happen next. A real page turner. The writing made the story believable and brought you right into it.
