This seriously had one of the most shocking revelations in a story that I've read in a long time. Very surprising! Worth the read.

Very fast read! You need to read this book quickly to be able to keep on track. Every chapter is told by a different character so it can get confusing if you don't read it quickly!

Tom Dunleavy, a former professional basketball player and local East Hampton legend, is getting by as an underworked and unmotivated attorney. His sports glory days and his one true love are long in the past, but he gets second chances at personal and professional redemption when three locals are gunned down, apparently in the aftermath of racial tensions arising from a heated pickup game of hoops. The police seize on Dante Halleyville, the country's best high school star, as their suspect, and Dunleavy must dust off his old courtroom skills and enlist his lost love, Kate Costello, as his partner.

Tom Dunleavy has a one man law firm in the richest resort town in America-the legendary East Hampton. His clients come from the year-rounders he grew up with, the people who make a living serving the rich.
An old friend of Tom's, a local star athlete, is arrested for a triple murder on the beach near a movie star's mansion. Tom knows in his gut that Dante Halleyville is innocent.
Tom decides to represent Dante along with the superlawyer he has recruited-Kate Costello. Kate is his ex-girlfriend, and they try to work together to discover who really executed three locals and why they went to such incredible lengths to set up Dante as the killer. The also end up discovering that the feelings they had for each other never really went away.
With the entire nation's eyes on this Trial of the Century, Tom orchestrates a series of revelations to lure the real killer out of hiding-and what emerges is staggering. No one could imagine a killer this ruthless.
A different read by Patterson, but still retains that can't put it down style.

Another surprising thriller from James Patterson and Peter De Jonge events that followes the events that take place after a gathering on the beach in the Hamptons. I loved it and am sure you will too.

Tom Dunleavy, ex- NBA, is a lawyer barely making a living in a wealthy resort town. He represents a promising future NBA star accused of a triple murder. Tom's ex-wife becomes his partner for the trial. Many surprises along the way, especially at the end.

OK. Quick, light read. Nothing special. Beach Road would make a good beach read. 2-and-a-half-stars.

Tom Dunleavy has a one-man (and one-dog) law firm in the richest resort town in America - legendary East Hampton, summer home to billionaires and megacelebrities. But his job barely keeps him in paper clips. His clients come from the year-rounders he grew up with, the people whomake a living serving the rich. The movie moguls, models, and corporate honchos who swarm the beaches every summer already have lawyers on their payroll.

The final scenes unveil a truth so unexpected that it will leave readers gasping in shock. Written w/ the whiplash precision that has made James Patterson Americas #1 suspense writer, Beach Road is his wildest and most thrillingly unpredictable novel ever!

"Beach Road" is a typical Patterson novel, in that it is packed with short chapters, full of suspense, mystery, and intrigue. This page turner is truly exceptional until the rug is pulled out from under the reader during the climax.

At first, this book reads like a Grisham hybrid, as a down and out attorney takes on a case in which he is most certainly the underdog.

The attorney is Tom Dunleavey, who is an ex-professional athlete who takes on the case of a young athlete who was framed for the murders of individuals who were well-known, and liked by the community. With lots of circumstantial evidence piled up against the defendant, the entire community thirsting for blood for the seemingly senseless murders, and Tom not having much courtroom experience, the story is almost cliche in that a miracle is needed to overcome the situation.

That miracle comes in the name of Kate Costello, who is Tom's ex-girlfriend. Kate is a star attorney who has already made waves in the legal field as a defense attorney. A desperate Tom seeks out her assistance, and reluctantly, she agrees to take on the case.

Gradually, they work on building up evidence to prove Dante's innocence.

The book is great, until the final twist which really left a bad taste in my mouth.

I won't give away the ending, but the twist is so ridiculous that you basically have to be lied to for the entire novel for the revelation to be conceivable and for the identity of the true murderer to be concealed. It was such a tasteless change of pace in the novel, that it was really difficult to finish the book.

Nice try at trying to avoid the cliched, sappy ending. However, this was just too much of a misstep.

This book was pretty good. I loved the twist at the end, which was a complete surprize. Always enjoy the short chapters James Patterson uses in his books that move the story along faster.
