Book Description:
An Emma Lord Mystery--Emma Lord, small-town newspaper owner and editor in Alpine, Washington, is featured.

Christmas in the town of Alpine means fresh snow, carolers, even a sleigh. But then the discovery of a woman's leg in the lake, along with that of another young woman's nude, half-frozen body, deflates everyone's high spirits. But as Emma Lord, editor and publisher of The Alpine Advocate, follows up on the story, the bits and pieces of the young women who keep turning up start adding up to a murder scheme so sinister it may well land Emma on her own obituary page . . .

I really enjoy the Emma Lord series and for the first time in my mystery reading career, am trying to read them in order (the ABC order of the titles is making that easy!) Emma is a newspaper owner and editor in quirky small-town Washington - I find I like my cozies taking place in small towns, and while Alpine isn't as quirky as Maggody, it has its unique charms. I enjoy her on/off romance with Tom Cavenaugh, her priest brother Ben and just about everything in this easy to read, light in tone (well, except for the dismembered body parts) mystery.

Third in this delightful series in which a new female newspaper owner in a small town in the state of Washington struggles to fit in with all the weird & crazy citizens of the small town of Alpine.
The characters are delightfully nutty & there's always something going on.....mostly leading to a discovery of a murder by the owner of the newspaper, which doesn't please the local sheriff. This delightful series continues with most of the leading characters
in the successive books. You'll learn to love the characters & won't want to miss their growth over the series. It'll get you hooked. Great reading!!

I'm really enjoying this series. This is evidently the third book of the series. A good read.

This is the third in the Emma Lord series and, as always, I enjoyed the book. The sheriff catches more than he bargained for when he goes fishing - a human leg. Later Emma and her brother Ben find a body and too many people are acting strangely in town. The perpetrator is the least suspected among the bizarre. Good read.

Third in the Emma Lord mystery series and a fun read. From the back cover: The pretty little town of Alpine looks like a Christmas card: deep, fresh snow, carolers, Christmas trees, even a sleigh. Until the discovery of a woman's leg in the lake, along with that of another young woman's nude, half-frozen body, deflates everyone's high spirits, including Emma Lord's. But for Emma, the editor and publisher of The Alpine Advocate, a great story is still a great story. Until she has a close encounter with a killer that may very well land her on her own obituary page ...

I enjoyed both of Daheim's mystery series. Emma Lord, editor of the local newspaper, helps local law enforcement discover the identities and the killer of several young woman who seem to have a shared past history. Good read

3rd Emma Lord mystery. Christmas is coming to Alpine, but not everyone is in a holiday spirit. First, a human leg is found in the river, then robberies and vandalism keep Sheriff Dodge busy. Emma as usual is asking a lot of questions. Good series!
