Book Description:
The women of Freesia Court are convinced that there is nothing good coffee, delectable desserts, and a strong shoulder can't fix. Laughter is the glue that holds them together—the foundation of a book group they call AHEB (Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons), an unofficial “club” that becomes much more. It becomes a lifeline. Holding on through forty eventful years, there's Faith, a lonely mother of twins who harbors a terrible secret that has condemned her to living a lie; big, beautiful Audrey, the resident sex queen who knows that with good posture and an attitude you can get away with anything; Merit, the shy doctor's wife with the face of an angel and the private hell of an abusive husband; Kari, a wise woman with a wonderful laugh who knows the greatest gifts appear after life's fiercest storms; and finally, Slip, a tiny spitfire of a woman who isn't afraid to look trouble straight in the eye.

This stalwart group of friends depicts a special slice of American life, of stay-at-home days and new careers, of children and grandchildren, of bold beginnings and second chances, in which the power of forgiveness, understanding, and the perfectly timed giggle fit is the CPR that mends broken hearts and shattered dreams.

A wonderfully charming, endearing, and funny story about five women living on Freesia Court. Their lives cross one night in winter in 1968. They form a friendship that continues to grow with their regular book club meetings.

This is a well written story and alot of fun to read.

Loved it. She is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of her best. It's like Desperate Housewives and Roseanne all rolled in one...

I found this to be a very quick read. Lot's of laughs and sorrows, the drama unfolds fast and you'll find yourself asking "Can all this happen to one bunch of ladies?" it's got it all.

This book was great. I really loved it. I would love to form a book club just like these ladies did.

an enjoyable read about a group of friends, who have formed a book club, whose friendship endures for 30+ years. i liked how each chapter was written from the point of view of a different "angry housewife". and i liked how the bookclub book of the month tied into the plot of each chapter, even though the books themselves were barely mentioned in the novel.

One of the best books I have read lately. We did this in our teachers book club. After reading this, I went back and read other books by Lorna Landvik but I don't think any others equal this one.

A neat little read. Nothing spectacular about the book or story but once you start reading you kind of wonder what happens to them all throughout the years. Makes you wish you had friends like this.
