"Herman's delightful new mystery gives added depth and dimension to these likeable amateur sleuths." -- Taffy Cannon, author of Guns and Roses
This is a really good mystery. Korine McFaile, one of the partners in Three Dirty Women's Landscaping, attends a conference where her roommate is murdered. Since she argued with the woman shortly before her death, and is involved (unwittingly) in a romantic triangle, she becomes the prime suspect. Along with her best friend, her son and his partner, and her friend's cop husband, they struggle to uncover the identity of the real murder and clear Korine's name.
I liked this book because it kept me guessing and was not in any way predictable. The characters were likable and realistic and it was a good mystery.

Two of the three owners of Three Dirty Women Landscaping attend the Southern Small Landscaping Conference in Savannah. While Amilou Whittier stayed home in Pine Grove due to being on probation for murdering her husband, Janey Bascom and Korine McFaile look forward to the events. Because Janey's husband has accompanied her, Korine rooms with Dodie Hallorman, selected for her by committee member Sharon Winslow.
From the start Dodie acts ugly towards Korine and even rips her up one side and down the other in public. Someone kills Dodie with Korine, naturally, being the prime suspect of local Detective Sudley, not just because of the conference confrontations, but because they were business rivals.
This is the second "Dirty Women" novel. It's an entertaining tale that will please fans of cozies. The plot is fun, as the audience understands a lot about Janey and Korine and their relationships with family members. Though Amilou takes a back seat, readers will see glimpses of her personality too. The support cast augments the tale by propelling the action forward and through their interaction with Korine.

Unfortunately, nothing is coming up roses at the twelfth annual Small Landscapers Convention in Savannah, Georgia. Korine McFaile, one of the green-thumbed partners at Three Dirty Women Landscaping, Inc., finds herself forced to share a hotel room with fellow conventioneer and business rival Dodie Halloran, a nasty woman who threatens to ruin poor Korine's trip. Until murder stops her cold.
The weapen was an oleander-laced Bloody Mary - the killer cocktail of someone who knows poisonous plants. Korine is now the prime suspect, since many witnessed the public display of hostilities between the two women. But what nobody fathomed was the misplaced animosity Dodie had for Korine, a grudge that went back years. Digging up dirt is Korine's area of expertise; but she never planned to unearth a garden of desperate secrets, dark passions and dangerous alliances growing right under her own feet.
