Book Description:
Hemlock Falls is a pretty little town in upstate New York. Sara Quilliam, with her talent for business, runs the Inn at Hemlock Falls. Her sister, Meg, keeps the guests happy with her culinary abilities. But when it ocmes to murder, the Quilliam sisters have to rely on other skills -- spotting clues, solving crimes, catching culprits.

Hedrick Conway is making news in Hemlock Falls, but he's making enemies even faster. The nosy newpaperman sees a late-breaking story everywhere he goes, and never lets the truth get in his way. His current expose: an in-depth look at plans for the local mini-mall, in which several prominent people have invested a great deal of money. Hedrick thinks something funny is going on, but nobody's laughing when two of his relatives turn up murdered. For Hedrick, and anyone else who gets involved, like the Quilliam sisters, this could be one deadline they'll never meet.

This mystery has a reporter discovering people in Hemlock Falls investing money in a mini-mall. Soon two of his relatives are dead. And that is when the Quilliam sisters investigate.

The Hemlock Falls mysteries grow on me and this is the best one yet. A rich man has bought the town newspaper and turned it into a tabloid. No one is safe. Where does he find out all this stuff? Is he crazy enough to have killled his mother and his sister and tried to pin the latter on superchef, Meg. How does the new mini-mall, scheduled to be opened in a matter of days and invested in by virtually the entire town, fit into the picture? Not to mention the goofiest Kipling Society in the history of the planet.

The inhabitants of Hemlock Falls are chagrined by the antics of Hedrick Conway, who has bought the local newspaper and is publishing it under the title of "The Trumpet". Conway finds a scandal under every rock and bush and publishes outlandish stories for the sake of a newspaper sale. He tries to find something scandalous at the Inn at Hemlock Falls and succeeds in angering Meg, who takes great pride in her cooking and does not appreciate Conway's attempts to close her kitchen. In attendance at the Inn are an interesting group of characters who comprise the Rudyard Kipling Condensation Society. There is more than poetry in the air, however, as dead bodies begin turning up with alarming regularity. Quill, the owner of the Inn, has had a parting of the ways with her ex-boyfriend, Myles, who is the town sheriff. That makes things a bit touchy as they both do their own investigation as to the identity of the murderer.

A pushy reporter is haunting the residents of Hemlock Falls. Will someone kill him to stop his exposes? Actually, no.
