Book Description:
An anti-globalization group plans to give the world's industrial nations a jolt by using an artificially triggered "polar shift". But the scheme goes awry when the shift cannot be reversed and the NUMA Special Assignments Team is called into action.
Polar shift: It is the name for a phenomenon that may have occurred many times in the past. At the very least, it disorients birds and animals and damages electrical equipment. At its worst, it causes massive eruptions, earthquakes, and climatic changes. At its very worst, it would mean the obliteration of all life on Earth.
Sixty years ago, an eccentric Hungarian genius discovered how to trigger such a shift, but then his work was lost -- or so it was thought. Now, the leader of an antiglobalization group plans to use the work to give the world's industrialized nations a little jolt. But once the shift starts, there is no way to stop it. And unless Austin and the rest of the NUMA Special Assignments Team find a way, there is only one fate left for the world.

Another in the Cussler Kurt Austin series, this is another good read. True to form Cussler offers adventure, intrigue, cunning, a slight flirtation, and a prologue that grabs interest from page 1 because it is the basis for the story that follows. And there is the usual bit of fantasy that offers a fun let down from the suspense. Anyone who reads Clive Cussler will want to read this one.

another tall tale by cussler w/polar shifts, wooly mammoths and the end of the world. Fast read, but you better leave your brain at the door. good for its genre.

As usual, clive cussler creates another masterpiece. This book has everything....mystery, suspense, history, and passion. If you are looking for a nice easy and boring book-------this is not the one for you.
This was a very good book. I couldn't put it down.
This book raises a good question. What would happen if the earth's magnetic poles shifted? Would we still have the same environment we do now? And who or what could do such a thing? This is a Kurt Austin adventure but a very good read.
