Book Description:
He gave up the money. He gave up the power. Now all he has left is the law.

Michael Brock is billing the hours, making the money, rushing relentlessly to the top of Drake & Sweeney, a giant D.C. law firm. One step away from partnership, Michael has it all. Then, in an instant, it all comes undone.

A homeless man takes nine lawyers hostage in the firm's plush offices. When it is all over, the man's blood is splattered on Michael's face--and suddenly Michael is willing to do the unthinkable. Rediscovering a conscience he lost long ago, Michael is leaving the big time for the streets where his attacker once lived--and where society's powerless need an advocate for justice.

But there's one break Michael can't make: from a secret that has floated up from the depths of Drake & Sweeney, from a confidential file that is now in Michael's hands, and from a conspiracy that has already taken lives. Now Michael's former partners are about to become his bitter enemies. Because to them, Michael Brock is the most dangerous man on the streets....

Each page is full of thought provoking, emotional, eye opening events. I wasn't able to put the book down once I got into the story. this is definetely a must read if you are looking for something exciting, entertaining, and generally gives you a good feeling by the end of the story. As the story unfolds you become deeper and deeper intrigued. don't put it down and down hesitate to share this book with others once your've read it.

Too many coincidences. This book kept me interested for the first half but the story just became too..well, coincidental.

One of Grisham's better books. Very suspenseful and you definitely buy in to the main character and his mission.

This book was very good. A Lawyer making the big bucks decides to give it all up.

I really liked this book. The big shot lawyer on the road to riches gets sort of derailed by one event and then....OK, you'll have to read it yourself. I could tell that lots of research must of been done concerning the homeless in the Washington, DC area. There are lots of realistic details that I'm sure are true about this area of the city. The story keeps you rivited and I was even able to remember what was going on after a break in reading it, and able to continue and finish it. A sign of a good story.

I really liked this book because of Grisham's social conscience that came through. It really made me think about people who are homeless and those who work for small pay to help them. Also made me grateful for lawyers and others who take pro bono cases and for medical personnel who volunteer hours at free clinics. The Street Lawyer, I thought, was excellent for those reasons.

I was not a fan of John Grisham before this book. It's a thought provoking story that leaves the reader feeling content. It makes a person really wonder where their own priorities are.
