This was an okay book, although towards the end it had improved. I just can't give it "rave" reviews when they're not due, although the author is improving as the series goes on. Maybe it's just me, but I find that the continuity in these books has just, well... sucked, for lack of a better word. ;P I find myself reading about the characters suddenly getting from point A to point B without a whole lot of transition so a person is left to filling in some things on there own. Perhaps this is just because the author is not as good at describing the characters' environment and actions as some other writers are able to do.

I want to like Sookie, I really do, but sometimes she is just plain annoying with her whining. She complains that Bill won't help her with money but she can't ask him because she'll look like a "kept" woman. Ummm... everybody already knows you're screwing a vamp so I don't think they're small town minds will probably think it's the least he can do by helping you out. (Regardless, those small-town minds will ALWAYS find something to talk about so get over it Sookie!)

Then, there's the pining away for him even though she knows he cheated on her (which conveniently wasn't his fault, according to him--apparently guys don't get better with excuses over the years). I kept thinking "Good grief, have a little more respect for yourself and MOVE ON!" Apparently she selectively "forgot" how he also likes to drink off people and not just stick to the synthetic blood so he can get that extra something... and after what happens when Eric donates, well... Let's just say it's not platonic drinking that goes on when Bill taps a willing donor.

Another FYI. If you've just disposed of a body and have to buy another shower curtain and go to Wal-Mart to buy a new one, well, paying in cash doesn't mean there's no record of you going there. Hellooooo.... cameras..... like in the parking lot, at the registers and exits, plus at other little areas.... Sorry, that was something that just stuck in my mind after the author had Sook feel proud of trying to beat forensics and such. It's just that sometimes, I find Sook TSTL.

BUT--- There is getting to be a light in the darkness with a couple of the supporting characters. Eric definitely grows on a person. And Bubba is just great (even for someone NOT an Elvis fan and who adores her pets!). Alcide isn't too bad either. So, there's finally some reasons to really keep reading the series so I didn't waste my money on buying the books! Yay!

Plus, Sookie did get a bit better at the towards the end when she finally snapped at Bill & admits to herself what a jerk he is. I personally would have wrapped that silver chain around his Lorena's "Bobbit" regions! (yes, pun intended)

In book #3 Sookie and Bill, her vampire boyfriend/lover, encounter some hard times, both in life and in love. I have enjoyed this series a lot, getting impatient while I work my way up the wish list for the next book. Apparently a lot of other PBS members like these books!

I won't tell you the plot, just my reactions. There's a lot of mysteriousness surrounding why Bill has been kidnapped by the King of Louisiana (did you know vampires had divided up the country into kingdoms?) while working for the Queen of Louisiana. Hmmm. Eventually, when we find out the reason for everything that happens, it isn't all that convincing to me. Minor disappointment.

Sookie gets involved with a "were" (as in werewolf) being who, while in human form, is a sensitive hunky sort of guy. There are romantic sparks flying right and left while she's with him. Interesting new territory here for Sookie.

Overall, my reaction is very positive, falling into A- to B+ territory. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Vampire Bill gets kidnapped, and it's up to Sookie to rescue him. Weres, shifters, and vampires... this book is exciting and a quick read. I read it all in one day and dove immediately into the next in the series!

A great vamp series... some romance, some humor, a little bit of scary thrown in. This one saddened me a bit however because of the betrayal in it. Still a great read from a great series!

Another in the Sookie Stackhouse series, one of the better vampire series around. Interesting to compare how vampires and other supernatural beings are accepted/viewed in her books to the same in other series.

Quick read! There were a handful of new characters that got confusing at times, but it wasn't too bad. Nothing in particular to say about the book- wasn't spectacular, wasn't awful. Parts of the book were a bit gruesome, so if that's not your cup of tea, you may want to t(read) carefully.

Great series. Each book is kind of similar, but I love each new adventure. Likable characters.
