Book Description:
Another eagerly awaited novel of thrilling suspense set in Washington's corridors of power from the incomparable David Baldacci, bestselling author of The Simple Truth and Absolute Power.

Danny Buchanan and Faith Lockhart are the greatest influence peddlers in Washington because they can do something no one else can: guarantee results. But when Buchanan's scheme is uncovered by Robert Thornhill, a zealous CIA chief, he is forced to spy on his clients and network of politicians to further Thornhill's grand plan. Separately, Lockhart goes to the FBI to tell all, and thus becomes a target of Thornhill's. As the FBI is unknowningly pitted against the CIA mastermind, and Buchanan and Lockhart think each is destroying the other, it's left to private investigator Lee Brennan, who's stumbled into this nightmare, to "save faith." And a lot more.

Good book. Characters were believable, plot was engaging, and it kept me reading it way past bedtime. Baldacci makes sure you really get what happened at the end, so you aren't left feeling unsatisfied.

This is the first David Baldacci novel I read and I was hooked!! His stories keep you involved from the very first page and you don't want to put it down until the very last page.

This one involves a woman in protective custody and those who are trying to find her and those who are trying to save her. The ending is perfect....

A brilliant novel of genuine insight into the murky world of Washington powerbroking and covert espionage; A truly riveting thriller about a cash-for-questions scandal involving the highest ranking members of the US government. Washington lobbyist Danny Buchanan has made a fortune peddling influence for his cash-rich client companies, and now he's attempting to do the same for Third World countries and good causes. But no-one is listening - what's in it for them? So he bribes Washington politicians to take notice - until the CIA want in on the illegal strategy. Danny's partner, the tough-minded, independent and fiercely loyal Faith Lockhart senses it's all going to turn bad, so she tells all to the FBI in exchange for her and Danny's immunity. But she doesn't anticipate the ruthlessness of the CIA, a diminished and directionless organisation post-Cold War, who's head is a renegade obsessive and who is determined to take out Faith and anyone remotely connected to her...

Baldacci has become one of my favorite authors and he doesn't dissapoint me in this book about corrupt politicians, bribery and federal agents gone bad.

I've been a fan of Baldacci's for a few years and this book was another good one. I would have rated it excellent had it not been for a very weak ending. When I finished the last page, I double checked to make sure a few pages hadn't been torn out. Overall, though, it had great twists and turns and was a good read.

This book is another book where Baldacci has make the mystery had to solve, easy to read and nail biting the whole way through. The reasons why I felt this book was only good, and not great are these:
* The premise of the book, the reason why everything was going on, was hokey to me
* Several action events I didn't find plausible
* The ending was a complete disappointment
* Some of the characters just didn't seam real

The reading was good and the plot certainly kept things going. As usual, the plot was ramped up thru out the whole book, so I never really wanted to put it down. But, where there are a few things off, or you just don't believe the book "nectar" that the author is feeding you, then the book quality is diminished.

This would be a good book to read for summer reading or while relaxing at the beach.
