At there is a private eye that we can embrace, she doesn't jog, she doesn't know karate, and passing a bakery doesn't bother her.
This one is for the mullions of that are tired of glamorous private eyes.
A fun book to read.

This is #8 in the series. Its a fun read about a plus-size private investigator. She is a hoot and I could really relate to her.

A potential client is murdered--and Desiree feels responsible because she turned off her answering machine before hearing the woman's message.

This is book #8 in the Desiree Shapiro series. Desiree is a young widowed woman who has taken over her late husband's detective business in Manhattan. In addition to her wry and witty observations about her case (and life itself), Desiree's absolute acceptance of herself as a voluptuous (plus-sized) woman who is never too hot-on-a-case to stop for a snack is refreshing. I know that I do get just a wee-bit tired of the "toned-to-the-max", uber-competent, flawless females after a while.

Lots of fun, filled with what I (a non-New Yorker) think of a New York attitude and wit.

Sometimes I like this series and sometimes I don't. I thought this one had a rather abrupt ending.

This is a Desiree Shapiro mystery Set in Manhattan where Desiree lives and has an office as a private investigator The mother of a woman she met several months previously asks Desiree to find out who murdered her daughter if indeed she was murdered. Well as it turns out she was poisoned by a type of poison that is not easy to come by for the average citizen. After interviewing the womans family, friends and staff extensively, Desiree finally figures out who did it. This along with finding out a lot of secrets the murdered woman had been keeping from family and friends. A very enjoyable book all the way through.

Desiree's thought processes and sense of humor remind me of myself. I could actually 'see' myself thinking and saying things she did! A very realistic character.
