This series is an enjoyable series of short, light cozies involving the niece of a chocolate shop owner in a lake resort town in Michigan. The stories are not deep, not challenging, not really funny, but are pleasant, mildly interesting, and fun as long as you're not looking for great literature.

This was my first introduction to a "cozie". I found it very enjoyable. The characters were fun. I was worried it would be lacking in mystery, but I was still guessing as to "whodunnit" till the last chapter. The chocolate confections were so descriptive you may be craving a box of chocolates before the book is through!

This was a very good story, enjoying the chocolate facts. Hope the others are as good.

This is a fun book, the second in the series, and keeps you guessing about the mystery. Good fun read, with a romantic sub-plot.

Great cozy mystery set in Michigan (my home state). Not to mention the book is chocolate themed and I am a confirmed chocoholic (even have the shirt to prove it!)

Better than the first. Still a light read, good for busy moms!

I bought this book because it has the cutest cover ever. It turned out to be a decent mystery about a woman who works in a luxury chocolate shop. Don't know that I would buy another by this author, but made a great airport read.

This is the second of the Chocoholic Mysteries. Lee McKinney, a divorcee, returns to Michigan to work for her aunt's chocolate business, is featured in:

The Chocolate Cat Caper (2002)
The Chocolate Bear Burglary (2002)
The Chocolate Frog Frame-Up (2003
The Chocolate Puppy Puzzle (2004)
The Chocolate Mouse Trap (2005)
Crime de Cocoa (2005)
The Chocolate Bridal Bash (2006)

In the Chocolate Bear Burglary Lee's ex stepson shows up from Texas, without warning, and ends up being implicated in a burglary and a murder. Lee has to figure out who really was responsible to clear her stepson. Although I figured out whodunit early on in hte book, I still enjoyed the book, and plan to read the entire series.

What a great book! JoAnna Carl has a way of dragging you in from the first chapter and not letting go until the book is over! I highly recommend this book as a great winter read. Goes wonderful with a fire and a snowy day!

A nice cosy with just enough suspense to keep you reading. The jacket blurb reads "After leaving her bad-news husband back in Texas, Lee McKinney moved up north to a quaint resort town. Now she keeps the books for her aunt's luxury chocolate shop. But Lee soon finds that Michigan winters can be murder ..."

I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the chocolate cat book, but it was still a fun read. The plot tended to meander a bit in the middle but overall it was enjoyable. These books are perfect for a slow afternoon as they don't require much time or effort to get through.
