Book Description:
Men in tights never looked so good. At least that's Pepper Marsh's first impression when she attends a jousting competition at the Rennaissance Faire in Ontario. An unemployed and unattached software engineer, Pepper has had enough of the computer geeks in her dating pool. She years for a man of yore. A man not afraid to stare death in the face and laugh at it. A man with a big lance...

Pepper's cousin has promised to find her a knight in shining armor, on the condition that Pepper walk around in wench garb. With her mind on her embarrassingly revealing bodice, Pepper promptly steps into the path of an oncoming steed...and is rescued by sexy Englishman Walker McPhail. Once the wild man of jousting, Walker has let a brush with death keep him out of the ring. Though his emotions are clad in almost impenetrable armor, Pepper finds Walker infuriatingly sexy--and she's about to go medieval on his heart...

Pepper Marsh wants a knight in tights. That's the only reason this single, currently unemployed software engineer sick of technogeeks agreed to attend a "Renaissance Faire" with her cousin C. J. Fortunately, on her very first day at ye olde faire, Pepper stumbles across Walker McPhail, a totally scrumptious Englishman who rescues Pepper just as she is about to be trampled by a horse. Despite the fact that as soon as Walker has her out of danger's way, it seems like he couldn't be less interested in her, Pepper is still intrigued by her daring, dashing knight. Then, after she discovers that Walker was once the toast of the jousting circuit but mysteriously gave up competing, she vows to do a bit of rescuing herself. Generously seasoned with her distinctive brand of impudent wit, set against the fascinating world of jousting competitions, and graced with a full cast of deliciously original characters (including a fiendishly adorable cat), MacAlister's latest fresh, funny, and fabulously sexy contemporary romance is pure fun.

I love Katie MacAlister's books. Especially her unique books. This book showed the reality of all those who love the period of time where a Knight was the highest a man could aspire to be and real women were okay being Wenchs. This book takes place at a Renaissance Fair and shows the behind the scenes and the fun of a Fair.

Cute but simple. A good "fluff" book for a quick read with no expectations.

Another terrific Katie MacAlister book! As usual, this one keeps you laughing from the first page to the last. It has comedy, sex, intrigue, a little of everything - all wrapped up in delightful Ren-Fair style!

This is my kind of romance. An intelligent (but not perfect) heroine mixing it up with an Alpha male, who though cautious, isn't really afraid to love a woman. The two take turns chasing each other (though neither runs away very fast or for very long.) The banter is humorous, the sex is hot, and the payoff is love (since the sex starts early.) I'm ordering more of this author's books.

This was a cute book. A bit predictable, but I still enjoyed it. The only part that wasn't predictable (At least not to me) was WHY the "bad guy" did what s/he did.

The story starts out with an out of work software engineer, Pepper, going with her cousin to a Renaissance Faire in Canada. Her cousin has promised to hook her up with the man of her dreams. Easy enough right? Well Pepper has ideas of her own about the man she wants. Of course he is not what her cosin considers "perfect" for Pepper. What happens next is a hilarious story involving a crazy overfed cat + virile stubborne man (dressed as a knight of old)+ lots of lust= misunderstandings galore!!!
I have to say that I liked this book quite a lot. The dialog between the characters was great. Pepper is very fiesty and I liked that she refused to give up. I did not care too much for her cousin CJ (pesonally, I would have wanted to slap her) Over all it is a good read that I reccomend.

great great book. i can't say enough about Katie Mac. her books are unforgettable. This book is one of my favorites. Pepper is such a great character. about 3/4 into the book her loyalty is called into question and it just about broke my heart. I wanted to bop her cousin upside the head becuz she would believe others rather than believing her own cousin; what a witch. but everything turns out in the end. I highly recommend this book

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! This book!! If you love nights and armor and the whole 'damsel in distress' thing you will LOVE this book. I love when Katie makes the female character a strong independent suborn person who isn't afraid to get dirty. I especially love the back and forth between the 2 main characters, it keeps things interesting.

A fun tale and romance. McAlister can be a fun, quick read, and she has an unusual angle with this renisaunce tale.

honestly i thought this book was slow and stupid. i was very dissappointed in the whole thing, the writing was unamazing, the male character was very 2D and had no life to him and the heroine was dumb, heavey set and all she could do was focus on her weight, all throught the damn book!

I found the setting interesting and the characters held my attention.

Good book. Though there is a Renaissance Faire in the backdrop, the story mosty centers around a jousting competition, which just isn't the same. I was disappointed it wasn't more faire-centric.

If you like romantic comedy, then Katie MacAlister's HARD DAY'S KNIGHT is definitely the book for you. A modern-day romance set in contemporary times, this book has the feel of a historical comedy, revolving as it does around the world of a Renaissance Faire. For those of you who aren't familiar with this look into the past, Ren Faires are big business-a large number of people gather at these yearly events for a variety of reasons. A combination craft fair, historical reenactment, and performance arts, faires such as the one mentioned in this book draw huge crowds, from participants and spectators alike.

In Ms. MacAlister's world of the Renaissance Faire in Ontario, the characters might be make-believe, but the goings-on at the faire are anything but. For Pepper Marsh, being a software engineer without a job is bad enough. Being unable to find a date, and having nowhere else to look outside the geeks and computer techies she's used to working with, she travels with her cousin, CJ, to the Faire with an eye towards landing one of those hunky guys in tights that CJ is always talking about.

Unfortunately, the first things Pepper notices about a reenactment of medieval days of yore is the tireless effort it takes to put up a tent, avoid horse poop, and the disturbing chore of wearing revealing and embarrassing wench attire. Sure that all is lost, Pepper seeks out that knight-in-shining armor that she's sure is around the hot and dusty Faire somewhere. Stepping into the path of a hell-bent steed, she's fortunate enough to be rescued by none other than Walker McPhail.

A sexy, single, gorgeous Englishman who once jousted in the ring with the fervor of a true devotee, he's let a near-death experience keep him from jousting, his first love. The infuriating wench who seems out of her element is intriguing, even though Walker has a feeling that his buddies of the Three Dog Nights jousting team may have had a hand in their initial encounter.

With funny, believe secondary characters, fresh and humorous dialogue, and a hero and heroine who lock horns over just about everything, HARD DAY'S KNIGHT is a contemporary romantic comedy that you don't want to miss.
