A wonderfully written book by Bentley Little. Gripping tale of a young man who grows up in an indifferent family with no real friends to become an accomplished writer. Exactly what he accomplishes is unclear however his talent for the written word turns into an obsessive vice leading to unfortunate consequences that often reflect terrifying nightmares and personal fears. Although it is a spellbinding book, the end leaves you with a question mark. Almost as if you are looking for one more chapter to finish the story. It feels unfinished and there for slightly unsatisfactory. Otherwise the story from start to finish is incredibly difficult to put down. A great author I've discovered, however I do hope he learns to finish these great amazing stories.

Erie book...like all of Bentley Little's books...he is a new favorite author of mine. Always keeps me on the edge of my seat, and I have to keep looking over my shoulders whenever I read one of his books. Highly recommended.

Another gem from this "horror writer's writer." Bentley delivers the goods in this tale of a letter writer who has a bit too much free time on his hands, and a knack for getting into trouble. An excellent read and highly recommended for anyone who wants to stay up late at night glancing over their shoulder every five minutes, and jumping at every little creak and groan in the house.

What happens when you start writing letters for a living and change people lives......then get a letter delivered to you.

Good story line but I was a bit disappointed in the ending. It left me wanting more and the loose ends weren't tied up. Not one of his best stories but a good one nonetheless.

Huge fan of Little but this was my least favorite of his works. Just did not catch my attention long enough. I read the book in sections over a long period of time because i couldn't really seem to sit through it all together. Wouldn't recommend this as one of the first novels you should read by him.

Bentley Little's books get you thinking about what lies just beneath the surface of what is considered normal. This book did not disappoint me at all. Kept me guessing and thinking about my own little quirks.

Jason Hanford likes to write letters. He has everything he needs, stamps, envelopes and lots of pens. He is good to go. He complains and gets free meals, free hotel rooms. He write to women he has a crush on. His letters to the editor cause city wide debates. His letters are powerful, angry and heartfelt and sometimes obscene and always persuasive. One day someone sends
Jason as letter....He has an offer to write letters for a living. He should have asked a few questions about the job......???!!

Blessed with a gift for the written word, Jason Hanford has everything he needs: a pen, stationery, and a prestamped envelope. His complaints yield complimentary meals and free hotel rooms. His correspondence with secret crushes makes fantasies come true. Letters to the editor spark citywide debates and inspire change. His letters are powerful, angry, heartfelt, sometimes obscene--and always persuasive.
Then one day someone sends Jason a letter: This is for you. It leads to an offer to write letteers for a living. A whole new world is opening up for Jason.
He should have asked a few more questions about the job.
Very entertaining story, very Stephen King like story.

I love most of Bentley Little's books and this latest one was very absorbing. An original idea, like one of his previous books, "The Ignored." Jason Hanford loves to write letters and reaps the benefits -- getting freebies galore and inspiring change. Then one day he receives a letter offering him a job writing letters, but he should've asked some questions about the job. Very good horror book.

Like all of his books, very unusual. He takes everyday things, like letter writing, and turns them in to something sinister.
