As usual Mary Balogh captured your interest in history as well as the love story. I do not usually like to be educate in detail about a subject. However, Mary weaves the history with the story so seamlessly that you are hardly aware that you are being educated. As usual the characters have such a depth that you identify with them and feel with them as they move through the story. It is one of Mary's early books. She has only gotten better. I love to read Mary Balogh's books!

One of Balogh's very best. I hate to part with it from my "keeper shelf."

I read it, but the working in the coal mine to marry me, was a stretch. Still, it was an interesting story of that time.......details about strikes and such are always well done in her books. Worth the read, then pass it on. :)
