Their grandfathers hated each other. Their fathers hated each other. And as the next generation of the Hartes and Madisons, Hannah and Rafe are expected to hate each other too. But Hannah Harte remembers the long-ago night on the beach that revealed Rafe as much more than just "that disreputable Madison boy." And Rafe remembers the heroic gesture that proved Hannah's fierce spirit was stronger than any feud - and saved him from near-certain imprisonment. Now - reunited by a surprising inheritance after years of living their separate lives - Rafe and Hannah return to Eclipse Bay, and the hostilities that still divide, and bind, their families. And they are discovering something that is at once delightful and deeply disturbing... They don't hate each other. Not at all...
"If you want a book... that has snappy dialogue, great one liners, romance, and a little mystery, this is the book for you." (Amazon.com)

Not Krentz' best but a good read. Plenty of fun scenes and complex characters.

Story is kind of modern Romeo and Juliet. Two feuding families being surprised by the straightlaced Hannah providing Rafe an alibi for murder (she's just telling the truth). His family is surprised that a Harte would help a Madinson and hers can't believe she was hanging out with him. Not much sparks then and they both leave town to pursue seperate lives but they have some interesting times when they both get back to town a few years later and start tracking the murderer. (And I loved the little asides with the Winston the schnauzer.)

This is the first book in a three-book trilogy that tells the story of the Hartes and the Madisons of Eclipse Bay, Oregon. It is filled with romance and family relationships. Eclipse Bay is a town on the rugged edge of the Oregon coast. It is a town filled with treacherous secrets and fierce rivalries. It involves the current generation of the Harte and Madison families--Hannah and Rafe. Find out if they hate each other as their parents and grandparents did or have a new surprising feeling for each other. A wonderful book!

This is the first book in the Eclipse Bay trilogy. These stories are set on the rugged Oregon coast, where the shore can be rocky & forbidding, full of sharp cliffs and hidden coves. Hannah Harte is a successful wedding consultant and Rafe Madison is someone that is called "that disreputable Madison boy". Their grandfathers & fathers hated each other. Can they change the way their families feel about each other?
