Book Description:
The Caterer
Meet Goldy Bear: a bright, opinionated, wildly inventive caterer whose personal life has become a recipe for disaster. She's got an abusive ex-husband who's into making tasteless threats, a rash of mounting bills that are taking a huge bite out of her budget, and two enticing men knocking on her door.
The Dish
Now determined to take control of her life, Goldy moves her business and her son to ritzy Aspen Meadow Country Club, where she accepts a job as a live-in cook. But just as she's beginning to think she's got it made -- catering decadent dinners and posh society picnics and enjoying the favors of Philip Miller, a handsome local shrink, and Tom Shulz, her more-than-friendly neighborhood cop -- the dishy doctor inexplicably drives his BMW into an oncoming bus.
The Unsavory Killer
Convinced that Philip's bizarre death was no accident, Goldy decides to do a little investigating of her own. But sifting through the unpalatable secrets of the dead doc's life will toss her into a case seasoned with unexpected danger and even more unexpected revelations -- the kind that could get a caterer and the son she loves... killed.

I only bought this book because chocolate was in the title but was surprised when the suspense crept in. Plus all the action and her mention of what she was preparing while trying to solve murder in her head made me so hungry while reading this book. (She has recipes all through the book, total of 10!) The recipes are good, I tried them. The writing is quite good as well. I enjoyed this book and the bright, opinionated caterer.

Second in the series about Goldilock's Catering. Goldy faces more problems with her catering service. People keep dying after attending her affairs!! Her abusive ex, aka "The Jerk" continues to make her life miserable, the hunky sheriff wants more than she's willing to give and she's still trying to make her catering business successful enough to pay the bills. And more delicious recipes!! A sure-fire winner.

Goldy the caterer #2.

Good book. I had to reread about 10 pages, twice, to figure out the murder. All the facts are jammed together all at once with a whole bunch of action, so it took the rereads to sort through all the loose ends.

Diane Mott Davidson's books are a fun read, and this is no exception. And, the recipes included sound so scrumptious - I alsways say that I will try one of them, but never have.

All that and recipes too - how can you go wrong with a read like this.

This is the second book in the Goldy the Caterer series. I really love this series. If you're a fan of cooking and a fan of mysteries, then I think you'll enjoy Goldy's adventures. In this book, Goldy has moved to an elite country club subdivision and is working as the live-in cook for an eccentric retired General and his wife. Mysteries abound, starting with the death of Goldy's boyfriend, Psychiatrist Philip Miller. You'll enjoy all of the twists and turns this book takes and Goldy's amateur sleuthing. And, your mouth will water when you read about the menus Goldy is preparing.

Overall, it was a good book. Goldy is a bit TOO obsessed with her ex, and there were parts that were too wordy, but the mystery was a good one.
