I had heard great things about this series, and I was not disappointed. Very well written, I liked the characters a great deal, and it was a well written mystery. I wasn't sure until almost the end who did it, and yet there were still a few twists I hadn't counted on! Also included some great sounding recipes I'm tempted to try. I'm excited to continue the series and read more from this author.

Good book. First in the series. Love the warm family relationship of these characters and the realistic day to day challenges. The mystery kept me turning pages.

I wasn't too impressed with this author's writing....the story line was good but it was one of those books that you just want to get it over with and go on to something better

I enjoyed this culinary mystery. I found the main character and her son interesting and believable. I didn't know who did what until the end and I wanted to keep on reading until I figured it out!

Didn't much care for the main character. She seemed to co-dependent with her violent ex and it seemed to flow into her relationship with her son. There were places when I just wanted to smack her for being such a doormat.

Great read and some interesting-looking recipes! Quick read with a good plot and likeable characters.

I enjoyed this book. I am going to read the rest of the series. Goldy Bear is a Caterer in Colorado. She is divorced from her husband, who she refers to as "the Jerk". It was an abusive relationship, and they both still live in the same town. This first book in the series centers around the apparent suicide of Goldy's 11 year old son's teacher. Unlike some cozy mysteries, I did not figure out "whodunit" until near the end of the book.
Here is the list of the series in order:
Goldy Bear, single mom and caterer in Aspen Meadow, Colorado, is featured in:
Catering to Nobody (1990)
Dying for Chocolate (1992)
The Cereal Murders (1993)
The Last Suppers (1994)
Killer Pancake (1995)
The Main Corpse (1996)
The Grilling Season (1997)
Prime Cut (1998)
Tough Cookie (2000)
Sticks & Scones (2001)
Chopping Spree (2002)
Double Shot (2004)
Dark Tort (4/06)

Love this series by D.M.D. The main character is Goldy Schultz, a caterer and these mysteries are in a variety of settings, giving the reader an education about these settings and cooking, plus there are a bunch of menus and recipies you might appreciate if cooking is your thing. The books are easy to read and not so gripping they can't be put down and make for perfect bedtime reading.

First in an engaging series of mysteries featuring caterer Goldy Bear. Includes recipes (the couple I've tried from the series are pretty good!).
