She came to him as a precious gift, a naked angel rolled in a rug. Once he gazed into her green eyes, saw her tangle of honey blonde hair, he was undone with passion.
Elizabeth would never surrender. He was a hated Montgomery -- she was a Chatworth -- and the blood war between their families raged on, a wildfire of rape, murder, and betrayal.
Elizabeth vowed to fight the handsome lord, to resist the burning desire in his eyes -- no matter how great the temptation.
I mistook this book for the first in the "Velvet" series. It soon became clear that it wasn't; in fact, it's the fourth. It doesn't stand well alone and all the threads and characters from the previous books are extremely hard to follow. The plot is also pretty sloppy.

Miles Montgomery had been loved by many women, but there was only one with the power to capture his heart. She came to hin as an unexpected gift, and once he gazed into her eyes, he was undone with desire.
Elizabeth vowed she would never surrender to the handsome lord. He was a hated montgomery; she was a Chatworth. And the blood war between their families raged on in a storm of murder and betrayal. But love would take it's own course and bind their hearts with a mighty fury, turning fear and hate into trust and forgiveness-and tempation into glorious passion.
