A great beginning to another seafaring series. I thought it's main interest/attraction was that, compared to most series which are focused on the officer class, these are from the perspective of the sailors and their many different backgrounds. Kydd makes for a sympathetic protagonist as he adjusts to the life that was forced upon him.
