Intros to each author's style, past character, and plot lines provides a perfect background for the short story that follows. It enriched my knowledge of authors I was familiar with and helped me understand new authors. I have, through this book, found several new writers of the genre to read their full length novels. A definate "must read".

Because it had a James Patterson introduction I figured it would be a good one to read. I was not disappointed and liked the short story theme as I could read a story in a manner of minutes. Scary---does not disappoint.

This book had some good stories but then there were some really boring ones. Not exactly what I was expecting when I purchased it!

This book gives a brief introduction to each of the thirty+ writers. I expected it to be more of a horror/crime story, but it wasn't disappointing..... Each of the stories are more of a crime or military thriller. Some of the authors tied in current events like the war in Iraq, making you think about the stories being factual. It was an excellent book. I think anyone into thrillers will love this.....

I had forgotten how much I loved short stories. This book is a great read. There was not one story that I would not recommend. I plan on looking up the authors and reading some of their longer books.

I am a fan of short stories, and enjoyed this book a lot, especially since it has some of my favorite authors. It was worth the read!
