Book Description:
Four days after Abigail Browning's wedding, her life changed unimaginably: her husband was shot, meeting his death along the rocky Mount Desert Island coast. Was it a random act of violence, or could someone have wanted Christopher dead?

That's the question that has haunted Abigail, now a homicide detective, for the past seven years. Determined to find her husband's killer, she returns to the foggy Maine island after receiving an anonymous tip. Is it just another false lead, or can she finally prove that Chris was murdered?

As the search-and-rescue worker who located Chris too late to save him, Owen Garrison still carries guilt from that fateful night. Right from the start, Abigail's presence on Mount Desert Island ruffles feathers, but Owen sees she's not the same woman she was seven years ago. As he helps her unravel the mystery, they learn that the layers of deceit and lies are even thicker than they could have imagined. Now it's up to Abigail and Owen to keep pushing for the truth -- and stop a killer from striking again.

I have been hooked on CN's books ever since I read the first one. Of her romantic suspense books (I do not read romance!), I have read all of them. She is an extremely talented writer.

New York Times bestselling author Carla Neggers does it again with another non-stop action, romantic suspense. Bestselling author of Abandon, and Cut and Run, she hits a homerun with her new edge-of-your-seat whodunnit.

Abigail Browning is a Boston police officer who has not been able to get past the murder of her husband, Chris, seven years ago on their honeymoon in Maine. The crime has remained unsolved, even with all the tips and leads received over the past years. On the seventh anniversary of her husband's death, Abby receives a telephone call that she can't ignore. Another tip, but this time the mysterious caller states that the answer to Chris's murder resides at his home in Maine.

Abby returns to Maine and begins to investigate once again the murder of her husband. While there, she reconnects with an old friend of Chris', Owen Garrison. His driveway connects with Abby's, so they see each other fairly often. Soon, both begin to open up about their feelings to one another. A slow but budding romance blooms as the investigation progresses, trying to catch the killer before he strikes again.

I never did figure out who the killer was until toward the very end. A wonderful story that kept me guessing, with believable characters that I became to know well. I would recommend this to any romance or mystery lover.

Abigail Browning is a homicide detective in Boston. Seven years ago, on her honeymoon in Maine, she became a widow. She is as determined as ever to find her husband's killer. A phone call about secrets kept sends her back to Maine on the anniversary of her husband's death. On the foggy Maine island, the calls continue. Owen Garrison, a search and rescue worker and a childhood friend of her husband's and neighbor, helps her search for the truth.

A who-dunnit to the end. 4 or 5 star rating.
