I had picked up a Rochelle Wayne book in an old antique store with a used book section, and fell in love with it. So I immediately ordered this one when I found Rochelle Wayne on Amazon. Now, this was not as good as Rapture's Splendor, but it was certainly intriguing. I didn't want to put it down. The tragedies of slavery in the South brought such sadness to me. But the book didn't focus more on that than the romance. It was evenly split.
