Biography of Nikola Tesla, whose late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century experiments and theories gave birth to AC power, wireless transmission, X-ray technology, fluid mechanics, and even VTOL aircraft. There is an amazing story in here somewhere, but Cheney doesn't quite manage to get it out.

Odd book (then, he was an odd man). I would have liked to read more about the science (alternating current is barely explained) and less about the neuroses and the gadabouts that Tesla had. His scientific breakthroughs were done early in life (like Einstein, I guess), so a traditional biography doesn't quite capture it.
